What are some myths you used to believe before you were a parent and now have been disproven?

I just responded to a question about a little boys testes ';dropping'; Now most of us know that this is a myth and that in 97% of newborn males the testicles have already descended. What r some other things that people generally believe to be true but you realize are not. Yep pretty bored and cant sleep lolWhat are some myths you used to believe before you were a parent and now have been disproven?
That terrible two's start at two. Terrible two's can start earlier or later!

That putting rice or oatmeal in a babies bottle will help them sleep through the night... NOT...I tried that a few times with my daughter 'cause she was awake every 2 hours to nurse, she would still wake up every 2 hours! What are some myths you used to believe before you were a parent and now have been disproven?
I grew up in a superstitious family so there are a lot of myths that terrified me during my first pregnancy and first two years of parenting (I won't list them..they are crazy). My grandma is old and she believes in feeding babies every time they cry to keep away colic... so we had a lot of fat babies in our family.
potty training......................

its a longggg story!

i hope i never have to go throught it AGAIN!N!!!
that you can mold them into motivated perfections...
If I discipline my kids they will do what I want.
That I would pop right back to my prepregnancy size!
